Helping Rebuild Louisiana One Recipe at a Time

In order for us to help rebuild the grand heritage of cooking in Louisiana, our mission has become to build a central place of reference to the world of Louisiana cooking.

In one week millions of recipes were lost, hundred of thousands of cook books were washed away, and an untold number of memories were gone forever. We are now in the midst of rebuilding everything, and one of those cherished items in the world of Louisianians is the cook books which have come out of every town, every event, and every memorable occasion.

Our mission will be accomplished when we have collected every cook book on hand in this collection. Our goal is to be the central reference point for everyone who wants to have the recipes that existed before, but have been lost to circumstances.

Help us fulfill our goal and mission.  There are still cook books out there that we do not have. Help us locate any books which have been published but are not in our collection.  By doing this, you will be helping our great heritage of cooking in Louisiana.

While this is only a list of books right now, we are working hard to bring the contents to you.  We have some of the most intriguing recipes in the world, many of which has been given world wide accolades as being the best of the best from Louisiana.

So please review what we have below, check to see if you have any books which we don’t have, then contact us with the information. You will be doing your part in helping rebuild the Louisiana tradition of cooking the best there is.

Fast and Furious Louisiana Trip

January 2008

Well, on our last visit to the Big Easy playing tourist we had a great time.  We did not think it could get any better but somehow it did.  A lot of progress has been made within the city of New Orleans and surrounding areas, and things are back to normal as it relates to tourism.  The city is back in full swing, the restaurants are fantastic, the sandwich shops are unbelievable and the music is constant.  Because we grew up eating sandwiches I spent quite a lot of time tasting different varieties, like shrimp, oyster, and roast beef.  You will see some of the places that we went, and for about $10.00 you can feed 2 people with something that comes directly from heaven.

Rebuilding Response

Unconditional Love for Louisiana

Below is a touching response from our activities to help rebuild the great tradition of cooking in Louisiana. Its thanks like this that drives us to help.

As written on June 14, 2007 to Andre:

“The Book Fair chairman has received your very generous donation. Both she and I can not adequately express our appreciation for your thoughtfulness and support. Your commitment to the rebuilding New Orleans means a great deal to those of us working to help the city come back. I look forward to working with you to add to your already impressive collection of Louisiana cook books. Barbara.” (Symphony Volunteers, The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra)
